Centiment policy

Community Guidelines

A speech-friendly safety policy for participating in Centiment's public conversations.

Last updated October 18, 2026

1. Speak freely; treat people as people

Centiment should leave room for sharp criticism, political debate, unpopular opinions, profanity, humour, satire, and disagreement. Being offended is not, by itself, a policy violation. We intervene when expression becomes a credible safety threat, severe targeted abuse, exploitation, deception, or an invasion of another person's privacy.

Our moderation principle: consider context first, prefer a nudge for borderline speech, and reserve removal or account action for clear or repeated harm.

2. What is generally allowed

  • Criticism of people, institutions, ideologies, religions, governments, products, and public conduct.
  • Strong language, insults, parody, and satire that do not become severe or repeated targeted harassment.
  • Reporting, condemning, documenting, or quoting harmful material with clear context.
  • Good-faith discussion of identity, politics, health, sexuality, conflict, and other sensitive subjects.
  • Non-credible jokes, fictional writing, and hyperbole that a reasonable person would not understand as a real threat.

3. What is not allowed

Violence and dangerous conduct

  • Credible threats, instructions, or incitement aimed at causing real-world violence or serious harm.
  • Content that praises or materially supports violent extremist or terrorist activity where prohibited by law.

Targeted abuse and hateful attacks

  • Severe or repeated degrading abuse, intimidation, stalking, or coordinated harassment of a person.
  • Dehumanising attacks, exclusion, or advocacy of harm based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or another protected characteristic.

Privacy and sexual safety

  • Sharing another person's non-public address, precise location, credentials, phone number, or similarly sensitive information without permission.
  • Any sexual exploitation of minors, grooming, solicitation, or sexualised content involving a person under 18.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual extortion, or threats to distribute intimate material.

Deception, manipulation, and technical abuse

  • Phishing, fraud, impersonation intended to deceive, or schemes designed to steal money, credentials, or identity.
  • Spam, coordinated inauthentic activity, artificial engagement, or attempts to manipulate Centiment's systems.
  • Malware, unauthorised access, scraping that disrupts the Service, or evasion of safety and rate limits.

Unlawful content and rights violations

  • Content or transactions that are unlawful where the Service is operated or provided.
  • Material that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, or other legal rights.

4. How enforcement works

We consider the words used, context, apparent intent, severity, likelihood of harm, public interest, target vulnerability, and whether behaviour is repeated. Possible responses include no action, a pre-publication nudge, reduced distribution, review, content removal, feature limits, temporary suspension, or account termination.

Automated moderation helps triage content but does not define truth or intent. When confidence is low, the preferred response is review rather than an irreversible penalty. Severe and unambiguous safety violations may be blocked immediately.

5. Reports and appeals

Reports should identify the content and explain the specific harm. Do not file reports merely because you disagree with an opinion. If your content or account is restricted, you may request review and provide context. We may preserve relevant evidence and notify authorities when legally required or when there is a credible emergency.

A reporting and appeal contact will be published before public launch.
