The rules that apply when you create an account or use Centiment.
1. Your agreement with us
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and Centiment ("Centiment", "we", "us", or "our") when you access or use Centiment's websites, applications, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Notice, the Community Guidelines, and the Payments & Wallet Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use Centiment for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally capable of entering this agreement. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian's consent, you must have that consent. Paid features may be limited to adults or otherwise restricted by local law.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- Protect your password and session. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Do not sell, transfer, or share an account in a way that misleads others.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless it resulted from our failure to use reasonable security.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of content you post. You grant Centiment a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, format, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the Service. This licence ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except where copies must be retained for legal, security, backup, or dispute purposes.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to post your content and that doing so does not violate another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights. Public posts, replies, profile details, likes, and retweets may be viewed and shared by others.
4. Conduct and moderation
Centiment is built for frank discussion, including criticism, disagreement, satire, and unpopular opinions. Speech is not removed simply because it is rude or controversial. The limits are set out in our Community Guidelines.
We may use automated tools, including TypeSafe AI's Jev service, and human review to identify possible policy violations. Depending on the result, we may show a nudge, publish content into a review queue, limit its reach, hold it, remove it, or restrict an account. Automated systems can be wrong; context and appeals should be considered where practical.
5. Wallet and paid actions
Some actions use Centiment wallet credits. The price is shown before the action is submitted. Current prices are 1¢ to publish a post, 2¢ to publish a reply, and 1¢ to retweet; likes are free. The complete rules are in the Payments & Wallet Terms.
Wallet credits are a limited licence to use paid Service features. Unless Centiment expressly offers a withdrawal or transfer feature, they are not a bank deposit, stored-value account, investment, or cash balance and cannot be withdrawn or transferred.
6. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Centiment at any time. We may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a material or repeated breach, unlawful conduct, security risk, non-payment, or harm to users or the Service. Where appropriate and lawful, we will provide notice and a way to challenge the decision.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, and limitations of liability—will continue to apply.
7. The Service and third parties
We may change, test, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service. We do not promise that every feature will always be available or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Links and integrations supplied by third parties are governed by their own terms.
To the extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Responsibility and liability
Each user is responsible for their content and conduct. Centiment does not endorse user content and cannot guarantee that content will be accurate, safe, or suitable.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Centiment is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from use of the Service. These limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
9. Changes, law, and disputes
We may update these Terms as the Service or law changes. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice through the Service or another appropriate channel. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means the updated Terms apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, without taking away mandatory rights you have under the law where you live. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.
